Adult Education
Jewish learning for all ages
Our adult learning opportunities are a great way to dive deeper into Judaism and meet other members of the community who are interested in having discussions about Jewish history and text. Our classes are for adult learners of all levels of experience. We are here to guide you in your exploration of Judaism and support one another as a community of learners.

Let us be part of your journey.

TORAH STUDY

Rabbi David leads a regular Saturday morning Torah study session. Although we may start with this week's parashah, we may wander into discussions about Jewish history, philosophy, theology, and whatever else our group is interested in discussing. We read and understand the Torah using an academic lens, and Rabbi David brings different scholarly perspectives into the disucssion.

CLASSES

Rabbi Becca and Rabbi David alternate teaching adult ed courses and diverse subjects, such as the book of Genesis, Mussar (Jewish ethics), the history of Jews in the South, the history of Reform Judaism, and beginner's Hebrew. Courses are usually 8-12 weeks long and meet in the evenings, both in person and virtually. Keep checking back to see what will be offered next!

SPEAKERS

We often invite local leaders and teachers to speak to our community. Several times a year, a guest speaker will give the teaching at a Shabbat service, and we may have events when a special speaker comes to town. Past subjects include interfaith dialogue, local racial justice work, the history of Israel, and an introduction to the work of Jewish Family Services.
